Nadia Comaneci - (born on 12 November 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej or now Onesti, Romania), Romanian gymnast. First gymnast in history to earn a 10. a competition at the Olympics. Bela Karrolyi is a Romanian gymnastics instructor who later became the coach for Comaneci who first came across Comaneci at the age of six. Her first competition was at the junior national championships in 1969 and finished 13th. She took the title in 1970. She took home three golds at her first competition in a junior pre-Olympic meeting in 1972, which was a the communist bloc nations. The following year, 1973 as well as 1974 she won the junior all-round champion. The athlete won four golds and one silver medals at her debut competition as a senior, held in 1975. This was the first time she had competed as an older senior. The first female to complete a reverse double salo on the bar with a parallel surface when she won the American Cup, New York City 1976.
